Polish court orders Catholic diocese to compensate child sex abuse victim and priest to apologise

In a significant ruling, a Polish court has ordered a Catholic diocese to pay 550,000 zloty (€128,250) in compensation to Iwona Dudzik-Osińska, a woman who suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a priest over four decades ago. Additionally, the court has mandated the priest, known only as Father Jan, to publish an apology and admit his guilt. This is one of the largest compensation orders ever issued against Poland's Catholic church, which has recently been plagued by revelations of clerical child sex abuse.
