Stevens, who lost her Democratic primary race in Michigan, believes that the movement to delegitimize Israel is not just a policy debate, but an infection that has taken over America and parts of the West. She criticized the far-left of her party, stating that their rhetoric has moved far beyond legitimate criticism of Israeli government policy.

Stevens described her personal experience with hostility towards her pro-Israel stance, noting that she was "booed off her convention stage" and "chased out of a labor event in Detroit." She described the current environment as one of "heightened bullying" and physical threats, although she did not consider herself a victim or a hero.

The Democratic Senate primary battle in Michigan became a microcosm of the national struggle over the future of the Democratic Party, with Stevens facing Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate whose approach to Israel she deemed "poisonous." Stevens watched as support for Israel transformed from a bipartisan consensus into a "wedge issue" that divided the party.

El-Sayed's effectiveness in mobilizing younger voters through digital platforms was acknowledged by Stevens, but she argued that the use of anti-Israel sentiment on the internet is popular among the uninformed. Stevens traced the current "sickness" in the Democratic Party to the 2018 midterm elections, where a vocal anti-Israel cohort emerged. She questioned the double standard towards the only Jewish state and called for an end to the "sickness" that has infected Democrats.
