Palghar Administration Demolishes 574 Illegal Structures In Vasai’s Mori Village Amid Encroachment Drive

Palghar district officials demolished 574 unauthorized structures and houses in Mori village of Vasai taluka on September 1. This action is part of a broader crackdown on illegal development, aimed at ensuring adherence to planning regulations, safeguarding public interest, and encouraging planned growth. The demolition was executed under the supervision of Palghar Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar.

The district administration follows a policy of implementing swift, lawful, and time-bound measures when illegal constructions and encroachments are discovered. Complaints from residents prompted the investigation, but the demolition was delayed due to the concurrent SIR election-related work. After the SIR exercise concluded, the revenue administration restarted the pending actions as a priority.

Notices were issued under Section 53 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, demanding landowners to furnish proof of ownership, building approvals, sanctioned plans, and occupancy permissions within a set timeframe. No adequate or legally binding documents were provided, leading to the demolition of 574 unauthorized structures on September 1.

Police security, including female officers, was maintained to ensure law and order during the operation. The remaining unauthorized constructions in the Mori area are also being addressed, with further phases planned in line with the law. Citizens are advised not to construct on government or private land without proper permissions from the relevant authorities.

The Tahsildar and Executive Magistrate of Vasai appealed for citizens to strictly comply with applicable laws, approved development plans, and building permissions while carrying out any construction activities, warning that violators will face strict demolition as per the law.
