Nur Atiqah helps keep the Kelana Jaya LRT on track

Nur Atiqah Norhaizad, a 28-year-old woman, works as part of a four-person team at the Kelana Jaya LRT depot to maintain the machinery and equipment essential for the line's daily operations. The depot, located in Rapid Rail's Subang Complex, is responsible for keeping the trains running smoothly. Nur Atiqah's role involves ensuring that all machinery is in good working condition before being used for train maintenance work.

Her team inspects the equipment daily and handles repairs requiring more time later on using a two-shift system.

Nur Atiqah joined Rapid Rail nearly three years ago after completing a diploma in mechanical engineering and working for five years in manufacturing and electronics. She pays close attention to any unusual noises, error codes, or visible changes in the equipment, as these can indicate potential issues. She is particularly skilled at troubleshooting and maintaining technical systems, such as the underfloor wheel lathe, which is notoriously challenging due to its interconnected components.

One of Nur Atiqah's most demanding experiences was responding to a call-out at 2am to recover a derailed train. She and her team identified the damage and brought the necessary equipment to repair the train before it was returned to the depot. Nur Atiqah hopes to advance her career and become a highly skilled senior technician in the years ahead, building on her experience and receiving further training.
