An Alberta sheriff won't face criminal charges for using AI to create intimate images of women, including co-workers, without their consent. The photos discovered on the officer's phone may have a lasting impact on the women involved, but the officer's actions cannot be deemed criminal. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team concluded there would be no charges as the investigation took place before recent changes in criminal law regarding AI-generated intimate images.

The officer admitted to creating the images and has been removed from active duty pending an internal investigation.
