Netflix docuseries on Matthew Perry’s life beyond Friends: ‘To see him as a whole person’

A new three-part Netflix docuseries titled "The One About Matthew Perry" will be released next month, offering a comprehensive look into the life of the late actor beyond his iconic role as Chandler Bing in Friends. Perry, who passed away at the age of 54 in 2023 after a ketamine overdose, had been open about his long struggle with drug addiction.

The docuseries, based on the pattern of Friends episode titles, will explore not only his battles with addiction but also his career and life beyond the show. It will be narrated by Perry's sister, Mia Perry Bowick, who expressed her desire for viewers to understand her brother as a whole person, not just as Chandler or someone struggling with addiction.

Mia praised her brother's "beautiful heart" and "generous spirit," emphasizing her hope that the series will provide a deeper appreciation for Matthew Perry's true character and his enduring legacy. Perry's career included notable roles in films such as Fools Rush In (1997), The Whole Nine Yards (2000), Serving Sara (2002), and 17 Again (2009), as well as executive producing Harris Goldberg's 2007 dark rom-com Numb.
