Nepal flash floods: Death toll mounts to 1,114 as search operations continue

Death toll from the devastating floods in Nepal has surpassed 1,100, with 1,114 bodies recovered by 9 am on Wednesday, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). The highest number of bodies were found in Chitwan district (348), followed by Nawalparasi East (217), Nawalparasi West (190), Nuwakot (155), Gorkha (66), Dhading (59), Rasuwa (41), and Tanahun (38).

Authorities have identified 95 bodies and handed them over to their relatives. However, 3,916 people remain unaccounted for, including government employees, security personnel, elected representatives, foreign nationals, locals, and workers at hydropower projects. The whereabouts of missing individuals from 11 flood-affected hydropower projects remain unknown, with efforts ongoing by Nepali Army and international rescue teams.
