More than a deal: Jaxson Dart's bond with a young leukemia survivor

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart formed a partnership with PSD Underwear earlier this month. At first glance, it appeared to be a typical marketing agreement. However, the underlying story is far more profound.

In 2008, Dart met Curt Flaitz, the founder of PSD Underwear, and Flaitz's son, Rookie, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia just before his second birthday. Rookie successfully completed chemotherapy in January. When his hair began to grow back sufficiently for his first haircut, the family asked him what style he desired. He didn't hesitate to say, "When I wrestle my brothers, I'm Jaxson Dart. When I wear my chain, I feel like Jaxson. And I wanted my hair to look like Jaxson too," Rookie explained.

Later today, a moving narrative featuring Jaxson Dart and his connection with Rookie, a young cancer survivor, will be released.

Dart extended an invitation to rookie to visit the Giants facility so he could have his haircut there. "I had the opportunity to meet Rookie, and he's an incredible warrior," Dart remarked. "He was undergoing treatment and still wrestling with his siblings. When I learned about what he was experiencing, I wanted to be a part of his journey.

So, when it was time for his first haircut, I invited him to our facility. If I can leverage my platform to raise greater awareness and support for his foundation, I'm more than willing to do so."

Flaitz established the Rookie of the Year Foundation with a straightforward objective: to expedite the treatment timeline for pediatric leukemia, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to celebrate birthdays healthily and happily. Each year, PSD releases a Rookie of the Year collection to support this mission. The latest line was unveiled on Tuesday.

"Jaxson is a legend on the field, but he's also a legend off it," Flaitz stated. "Through PSD, Jaxson had the chance to get to know my son Rookie during his chemotherapy. Rookie finished his treatment in January, and when his hair grew back enough for his first haircut, we asked him what he wanted it to look like. He said Jaxson Dart. Jaxson invited him to the Giants facility for the haircut, and it was a moment that will remain unforgettable for both Rookie and our family."

The newest PSD x Rookie of the Year collection was launched on Tuesday, giving the partnership a public face and providing the foundation with another opportunity to bring pediatric leukemia to a broader audience.
