Mom runs 3km to win Rs 5k for kids' education

Ramabai Ranvir, a 47-year-old widow, had never participated in a race before. When she learned about a running competition near Dnyandeep Academy in Beed, Maharashtra, the winner would receive Rs 3,000, which could help support her two daughters. Despite having no training and even running barefoot due to lacking shoes, Ramabai decided to enter the race.

Her motivation was clear: she needed the prize money to aid in funding her daughters' education and living expenses. She completed the 3 km race, and although she initially won Rs 3,000 as per expectations, she was pleasantly surprised to receive Rs 5,000. Ramabai, who works at Dnyandeep Academy, uses her earnings from cooking to support her daughters, with her younger daughter, Arti, now studying BSc Computer Science in Nanded.

The academy also provided Ramabai's elder daughter, Pooja, with free education and employment, and she finished second in the 18-30 age category, winning Rs 2,000. Ramabai's determination was driven by her desire to ensure her daughters could continue their education, regardless of financial constraints.
