Microsoft to reveal Azure cloud sales in financial reporting shift

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it will begin reporting sales from its Azure cloud computing division on a quarterly basis, aligning its financial reporting with its top competitors, Amazon.com and Alphabet's Google. Currently, Microsoft discloses a growth rate for Azure but does not disclose its sales figures. The tech giant will consolidate three reporting segments into two: "Agents and Infra," which will encompass cloud computing services, sales from AI-based software, and revenue from traditional business software.

The second segment, "Devices and Consumer," will incorporate Windows operating systems, Xbox gaming unit, and advertising sales across Bing search engine and LinkedIn. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the profound impact of AI on technology, business, and product offerings, noting the blurring of boundaries between products and the reshaping of business models.

Azure is a significant cloud provider for OpenAI, which previously utilized Microsoft exclusively for AI model training until OpenAI switched to AWS. As of 2025, AWS reported sales of $128.7 billion.
