While new jobs will emerge, without proper policies, the overall number of jobs may decrease. Gates cites Stanford research indicating that workers aged 22 to 25 in AI-exposed occupations experienced a 16% employment decline. He advocates for stronger safety nets, retraining programs, and taxes on AI and robots. Gates also proposes setting aside "Human Reserved" roles that humans should keep in society.
