Looking for your next electric ride? The CKD Jaecoo J5 EV is now in Malaysia at RM118,800

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — Jaecoo has introduced its inaugural electric vehicle, the J5 EV, to the Malaysian market. Assembled locally, the J5 EV is priced at RM118,800 and comes in three colour options: Alpine Green, Fjord Grey, and Carbon Crystal Black. This model is part of Chery Group's lineup in Malaysia, including the Omoda E5, iCaur 03, and iCaur V23. The vehicle is backed by a comprehensive warranty, covering the full body for 7 years or 150,000km, and the high-voltage battery for 10 years or 200,000km.

For the first 1,000 customers, a special launch package is available, valued at RM10,000, which includes a year of unlimited charging on JomCharge, a year of insurance, a Jaecoo AC wallbox, a V2L connector, and a RM2,000 lifestyle accessory package. The J5 EV is a 4.38m long SUV that outstrips sub-compact SUVs like the BYD Atto 2 but remains smaller than crossover SUVs such as the Proton e.MAS 7.

Powered by a front-wheel drive system, it is equipped with a 155kW electric motor and a 58.9 kWh CATL LFP battery pack for a range of 461km (NEDC) or 402km (WLTP).

Standard features for this class, such as a 13.2-inch infotainment display, cooled front seats, and pet-friendly leather upholstery, are notably included in the J5 EV. Other highlights include a motorised charging port cover, a large panoramic glass roof, double-glazed front side windows, power tailgate, dual-zone climate control, and a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.

The vehicle's charging hardware is competitively priced within its segment, featuring an 11kW 3-phase AC onboard charger and the ability to charge up to 130kW DC.
