LG Electronics, Marriott team up on hotel room technology platform

LG Electronics and Marriott International have teamed up to create a cloud-based platform aimed at enhancing entertainment and digital services within hotel guest rooms. The two companies announced a strategic collaboration on Wednesday, stating that Marriott intends to implement the jointly developed platform in select hotels across its worldwide network.

The platform will start by concentrating on in-room entertainment services, while also establishing a framework for unified device management and connected guest services throughout Marriott's properties.

Under this partnership, Marriott will play a pivotal role in defining the platform's direction, focusing on guest experience, hotel operations, and enterprise integration requirements. Conversely, LG Electronics will contribute its expertise in connected devices, device management technology, and technical support. "By merging LG’s connected-device capabilities with Marriott’s hospitality expertise and enterprise platform, we are crafting a more seamless, personalized guest room experience while simultaneously aiding hotel teams in operating more efficiently," commented Drew Pinto, executive vice president and chief revenue and technology officer at Marriott.
