Kurt Okraku Keeps 2027 GFA Election Plans Open

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has not ruled out the possibility of seeking a third term in office, but has stated that his primary focus remains on leading Ghana football. The GFA president, who has been in office since 2019, became eligible for another term after delegates approved a constitutional amendment in 2025, allowing the association's president to serve a maximum of three consecutive terms.

This amendment was passed by a significant majority, with 114 out of 124 delegates voting in favor. While Okraku has not made a definitive decision about his future plans, he emphasized that he will address the issue when the appropriate time arrives. He acknowledged that there is still ample time before the next elective General Assembly, which is scheduled to take place in approximately 18 months.

Okraku stressed that his ultimate goal is to ensure the continued growth and development of Ghanaian football, rather than remaining in the position indefinitely. He expressed that he does not intend to serve indefinitely, and that when the time comes, he will step aside.
