Kunal Kemmu on directing mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore in Vibe: ‘She asked for synopsis’

Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, also known as Kunal Kemmu's mother-in-law, joined the cast of Kunal's upcoming directorial, Vibe, as a cameo. This marks Kunal's second film after Madgaon Express. The comedy caper also stars Preity Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and debutant Vanshika Dhir. The trailer for Vibe was unveiled in Mumbai on Wednesday.

At the launch event, Kunal was questioned about how he managed to secure Sharmila's participation in the film. He revealed that it was a shot in the dark, as he initially asked for her participation without revealing the extent of her role. Sharmila responded by asking for the film's synopsis, which Kunal provided, and she agreed to the cameo nonetheless.

Kunal shared that directing Sharmila Tagore was a long-standing dream of his. He expressed his happiness and pride in being able to give a call to action on a legend like hers. At the launch, Soha Ali Khan was also present to support her brother Kunal and the film Vibe. Soha commended Kunal's sense of humor, saying that he is able to make everyone laugh, whether it is a wedding or a funeral.

Preity Zinta, who plays a serious character in the film, shared that while she enjoyed working on Vibe, she had one complaint about Kunal - he didn't give her enough funny scenes. The film also features debutant Vanshika Dhir, veteran actor Yashpal Sharma, and Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav. Produced by Chirag Nihalani, son of the late Pahlaj Nihalani, Vibe is set for a theatrical release on September 18.
