KPSC Scam Probe Reveals ₹40-80 Lakh ‘Money For Posting’ Network In Karnataka Recruitment Exams

The CID probe into the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) scam, involving the arrest of IAS officer Gyandendra Kumar Gangwar in connection with the 'money for posting' scandal in Veterinary doctor recruitment, has uncovered a well-established network of middlemen and KPSC insiders. The investigation has exposed malpractices during at least three recruitment examinations conducted by the organization.

According to CID officials, during the Veterinary doctor recruitment, aspirants paid anywhere between ₹40 lakh to ₹80 lakh to get recruited through the middlemen. Some candidates paid the full amount upfront, while others made 50% payment in advance and the remaining amount after their names appeared on the provisional list of candidates. The collected money was shared in a 60:40 ratio, with the majority going to KPSC members and officers, and the remaining 40% shared by the Kannale group.

The examination controller Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar had received four sets of question papers during interrogation. He had written down 70 common questions in all four papers and handed them over to Basavaraj Kannale, who organized training camps for aspirants in resorts at Devanahalli, Bengaluru, and even in Hyderabad. Candidates who sought only question papers or assistance in editing OMR sheets paid ₹40 lakh, while those who wanted to edit the OMR sheets paid ₹80 lakh.

Kannale, initially presumed to be a BJP functionary due to his photographs with top BJP leaders, was later found to have good relationships with Congress ministers as well. He claimed to be contesting the 2033 Assembly elections and sought a suitable constituency in Koppal or Raichur district.
