Kane’s brace helps Bayern win German Cup opener

In a German Cup opener, Bayern Munich's Harry Kane scored a brace as the reigning champions overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Osnabruck 4-1. Tom Bischof and Michael Olise also found the back of the net for Bayern, who came from behind after Robin Meissner's early goal for the hosts. Meissner's dipping shot from outside the box, just five minutes in, had Osnabruck dreaming of an upset victory.

Bayern, who had not been eliminated from the German Cup since 1994, quickly equalized through Kane's rebound. Bischof added another goal six minutes later, putting Bayern in a strong position. Olise sealed the win with his goal on 73 minutes, while Kane completed his hat-trick with a penalty in the final four minutes. On Tuesday, Borussia Dortmund had also made an early impact in the competition by thrashing fifth-division amateur side HEBC 5-0 in Hamburg.
