'Jobless people on TV': Goyal attacks oppn, ex-finance secy for doubting GDP growth

Union minister Piyush Goyal vehemently rebuked both the opposition and former finance secretary Subhash Garg for expressing skepticism over India's latest GDP figures. Goyal asserted that those seeking to portray India as an "economy in decline" would ultimately be proven wrong. He emphasized that politicians, ministers, and MPs do not create these statistics, and doubters are essentially devaluing themselves by adopting a negative outlook.

Despite opposition members including former finance officials who did not complete their terms in government, Goyal maintained that India's 7.8 percent growth rate is a fact. He cautioned critics for comparing growth rates across different series, noting their lack of understanding in making accurate comparisons. Goyal reiterated that India will continue to experience significant growth under Prime Minister Modi's administration, dismissing past failures.
