Japan PM seeks Nepal's full cooperation on 5 nationals missing in floods

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Tuesday reached out to Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah, requesting full cooperation in locating five Japanese nationals who remain missing after recent floods and landslides near their shared border with China. During a phone conversation with Shah, Takaichi conveyed Japan's deepest condolences for the lives lost in the disaster, emphasizing that both countries are often affected by natural calamities.

Takaichi reiterated her request to the Nepalese government to provide all necessary support in ensuring the earliest possible rescue for the five unaccounted Japanese nationals. Shah assured Takaichi that his government is doing everything in its power to assist with the matter. According to sources from Nepal's tourism authorities and the Japanese government, the missing Japanese are a family of five from Osaka, bearing the surname Yamamoto. The group comprises a couple, both aged 41, along with their three children, aged 10, 6, and 3.
