Islamabad Closes 3 Weekly Markets Over Poor Fire Safety Arrangements

The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad has ordered the closure of three weekly markets in H-9, G-6, and G-10 due to violations of fire safety laws and the lack of proper safety measures. This decision was made following the tragic PIMS incident and to promote compliance with fire safety regulations across the city. The markets are set to remain closed on September 1, 2, 4, and 6.

Fruit and vegetable vendors at the H-9 market were permitted to operate on September 1, provided they adhere to strict fire safety conditions. The MCI has instructed officers and market administrations to ensure strict adherence to these directives, warning that any violations will result in strict legal consequences without prejudice.
