iPhone Driver's License Feature in Apple Wallet Just Launched in 16th U.S. State

Apple has introduced support for driver's license integration within the Apple Wallet app in Oklahoma. Beginning today, Oklahoma residents can now store their driver's license in the Wallet app on their iPhone and Apple Watch, providing convenient mobile access to their ID. To add their license to the app, users must tap the plus icon in the upper-right corner of the Apple Wallet app, scan the front and back of their license, and verify their identity.

Oklahoma marks the 16th state in the United States to offer this feature, which was initially announced at WWDC in 2021 and has been rolled out gradually across the country. This expansion to Oklahoma occurred just a week after the feature was launched in Virginia. Several other states, such as Kentucky, Utah, Connecticut, Mississippi, and North Carolina, are also working on implementing support for Apple Wallet driver's licenses.

Users can utilize their Apple Wallet driver's license at TSA checkpoints at over 250 airports, as well as at various businesses and venues. To view the complete list of states that accept digital driver's licenses in Apple Wallet, users can visit the dedicated page on Apple's website.

In addition to driver's licenses, Apple also offers a Digital ID feature powered by US passports. This allows users to create a digital version of their passport, which can be used at TSA checkpoints. Regardless of the state in which a user resides, there is still an option to add a digital version of their ID to Apple Wallet.
