Industria, Istat: prezzi alla produzione +2,4% a luglio, +7,8% su anno

In July, Italy's industry production prices rose by 2.4% month-over-month and 7.8% year-over-year, according to Istat data. Within the domestic market, prices increased by 3% month-over-month and 9.3% year-over-year (up from a 6.8% month-over-month increase in the previous month). Excluding the energy sector, price growth slowed down month-over-month (0.3%) and year-over-year (3.3%, up from 2.9% in June).

On the foreign market, prices climbed by 0.6% month-over-month (0.2% in the euro area and 0.9% outside the euro area) and 3.6% year-over-year (3.7% in the euro area and 3.5% outside the euro area). For the May-July 2026 quarter, compared to the previous period, industry production prices grew by 2.2% (2.4% in the domestic market and 1.5% in the foreign market).

In July, the highest monthly growth rates were observed in coke and refined petroleum products (+54% domestic market, +35.9% outside the euro area), chemicals (+9.6% domestic market, +6.8% euro area, +6.6% non-euro area), metallurgy and metal fabrication (excluding machinery and equipment) (+7.7% domestic market, +7.8% euro area), and other manufacturing industries, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment (+6.8% non-euro area).

Internally, the trend growth of electricity and gas supply prices accelerated (14.5%, up from 8.9% in June). Domestically, residential and non-residential building prices decreased by 0.1% month-over-month and rose by 3.1% year-over-year (up from a 3.3% month-over-month increase in June). Road and rail prices grew by 0.8% in incremental terms and 4.3% in trend terms (up from a 3.7% month-over-month increase in June).

For the May-July 2026 quarter, compared to the previous quarter, residential and non-residential building prices increased by 1.3%, while road and rail prices grew by 1.1%.
