India’s Development Experience Can Offer Lessons To The World: Ajay Banga

India's development journey, as outlined by World Bank President Ajay Banga, could serve as a valuable blueprint for other nations, particularly in the realms of digital public infrastructure and agriculture technology. During a visit to G20 Finance Ministers’ meeting, Banga emphasized that the World Bank is augmenting its cooperation with India in sharing knowledge, as the country strives towards its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Banga spotlighted India's digital public infrastructure, such as Aadhaar and bank accounts, as a prime example for potential replication elsewhere. He also pointed towards the burgeoning application of technology in agriculture, especially initiatives that enhance access to inputs and services for small farmers. During a visit to Uttar Pradesh, Banga witnessed cooperatives collaborating with technology from Google, underpinned by World Bank support, to aid farmers in accessing these vital resources on a larger scale.

Looking ahead, Banga highlighted that attaining the Viksit Bharat goal by 2047 would hinge not only on domestic economic growth but also on India's standing in global economics and politics. He underscored the significance of both these factors in shaping India's development trajectory over the forthcoming years.

The World Bank's partnership with India extends across infrastructure, education, skill development, healthcare, and regulatory reforms. The institution is also exploring opportunities related to tourism and facilitating private investment. In addition, Banga discussed the potential of technology to bridge the gap between decentralized primary healthcare facilities and medical professionals in regional hospitals, thereby improving healthcare access.

He concluded by emphasizing that India's developmental journey serves as a testament to the synergistic impact of leadership, technology, and local delivery systems in driving both economic and social advancement.
