The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has reported a significant increase in the number of candidates enrolled for the June/July 2026 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations. Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, disclosed this during a press briefing in Benin City on Wednesday.
The total number of candidates registered for the 2026 examinations was 100,069, compared to 92,876 in the previous year's examination cycle. This represents a 7,193 increase, indicating growing interest in business and technical education. Additionally, the number of examination centres expanded from 1,892 in 2025 to 2,144 in 2026.
Of the 100,069 registered candidates, 97,867 sat for the examinations, reflecting a commendable 97.80 percent attendance rate. A total of 79,504 candidates achieved five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, which is a notable improvement over the 2025 examination results, where 61,104 candidates (68.18 percent) obtained the same standard.
