In second annual report to the nation, Sheinbaum hails a stronger, safer and more prosperous Mexico

President Claudia Sheinbaum delivered her second annual report to the Mexican people on Tuesday, highlighting the country's progress in various sectors like the economy, security, infrastructure, and healthcare. She began her address at the National Palace in Mexico City, stating that she is convinced Mexico is on the path to shared prosperity, independence, freedom, and dignity.

She emphasized that the government has governed with integrity and republican austerity, separating economic power from political power and governing honestly.

Sheinbaum cited several achievements during her tenure, including a stable and growing economy, high foreign direct investment, low unemployment, and improving inflation rates. The economy grew by 1.4% in 2026, and it has recorded a record-high revenue of over 6.4 trillion pesos. The minimum wage has seen a significant increase of 154% in real terms since 2018, contributing to a reduction in in-work poverty to its lowest level since 2005.

However, Sheinbaum also acknowledged ongoing security challenges, economic difficulties such as low productivity and high labor informality, drug trafficking accusations against ruling party officials, and claims of Mexico turning into a more authoritarian nation. Despite these challenges, she remains confident that Mexico is doing better now than before, and that the country has a clear path forward set by the Mexican people.
