Improved air connectivity will boost business, trade – Affo-Toffey

Deputy Minister for Transport Dorcas Affo-Toffey highlighted the significance of improved air connectivity between Ghana and African nations to foster trade, business growth, and regional integration. She emphasized that the resumption of African World Airlines' Accra–Abidjan route would deepen economic ties between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, opening up more opportunities for businesses and travelers.

Affo-Toffey, representing her Minister for Transport counterpart in Abidjan, stressed that the route's restoration was vital for Ghana's aspirations to become a leading aviation hub on the continent. By enhancing air connectivity, she said, people and goods could move more easily, business relationships would strengthen, and the continent's economic integration goals under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) could be better supported.

Affo-Toffey, also a Member of Parliament for Jomoro in the Western Region, pointed out that routes linking Ghana to other African destinations were essential for advancing regional integration and boosting intra-African trade. She added that improved connectivity would make it simpler for businesses and travelers to seize opportunities across the continent.

Affo-Toffey commended African World Airlines for its continued role in connecting Ghana with other African nations and promoting intra-African travel and trade. She expressed optimism that the renewed Accra–Abidjan route would further strengthen Ghana–Côte d’Ivoire relations, driving up commercial and personal exchanges. Affo-Toffey emphasized that developing Ghana's aviation sector is a cornerstone of the government's strategy to make the nation a major aviation hub in Africa, viewing the relaunch as more than just a flight reestablishment – a bridge connecting the economies, businesses, and people of Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
