Guntur police launch ‘Stop – Wash and Go’ drive to prevent road accidents

The Guntur district police have ramped up patrols and vehicle checks across the district to stave off road accidents, especially during nighttime, and safeguard motorists, as directed by Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal. The authorities are conducting targeted inspections at the Guntur tollgate, national highways, crucial junctions, crowded spots and areas with a history of accidents. Highway patrol teams are on constant watch, scrutinizing vehicles from nightfall till early dawn.

To curb accidents caused by driver fatigue, the police have rolled out the "Stop – Wash and Go" program. Drivers are being reminded to pull over briefly, refresh themselves, and resume driving only after regaining alertness. Policymakers urge fatigued drivers to park only in designated zones or safe rest centers, not on road edges, as doing so could endanger other road users.

Superintendent Jindal, in a recent statement, warned that stringent action will be taken against motorists flouting traffic regulations, including speeding, using incorrect routes, driving under the influence of alcohol, and carrying more passengers than permitted. He underscored that ensuring public safety is the top priority for the police.

The police emphasized that adhering to these guidelines is crucial for preventing road mishaps and protecting the community.
