Ghana Navy, UPSA partner on research, digital innovation and capacity building

The Ghana Navy and the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster their collaboration in several key areas. This agreement was inked at Faidoo Hall, Naval Headquarters, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The MoU seeks to facilitate joint initiatives in policy development, consultancy, advanced training, and digital innovation, with the goal of enhancing the Navy's operational capabilities and contributing to Ghana's broader development objectives.

Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, the Chief Staff Officer at Naval Headquarters, highlighted the strategic importance of such partnerships in bolstering the nation's maritime capacity. Speaking at the ceremony, he emphasized that the collaboration would extend beyond the basic provisions outlined in the agreement, aiming to identify areas of mutual interest, develop innovative solutions, and jointly address complex challenges.

Professor Emmanuel Selase Asamoah, the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, described the MoU as a significant milestone in the university's strategy to deepen its engagement with external stakeholders. He reaffirmed UPSA's commitment to providing the necessary institutional resources to ensure the effective implementation and success of this partnership.
