GATE 2027 Registration: IIT Madras starts registration process; announces exam dates, new paper

IIT Madras has launched the GATE 2027 application form on its official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The GATE exam is an option for students aiming for PhD or MTech programs. To register, Indian candidates must have a valid DigiLocker account, which they should set up and make sure is operational prior to registration.

The registration process consists of several steps. First, prospective candidates must visit the official GATE 2027 website to access the online GOAPS registration portal. Next, they need to create login credentials and register using basic personal information. After logging into GOAPS, applicants must complete the GATE 2027 application form, which involves entering academic, personal, and other relevant details.

Candidates must then select the GATE papers they wish to appear for and choose the exam city, along with any personal preferences.

The next step is to upload the required documents, including a recent passport-sized photograph and a scanned signature in the specified format. Applicants must review all the information they've entered, pay the application fee, and submit the application. After submitting, candidates should download the confirmation page and save it for future reference.

The key dates to remember are GOAPS registration starting September 2, 2026, regular registration closing on September 27, 2026, and extended registration closing on October 5, 2026. The GATE 2027 examination will take place over three weeks, from February 6-21, 2027, with results announced on March 19, 2027. The application fee varies based on the candidate's category and the registration period, ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 per test paper.
