GATE 2027 Registration Begins Today At gate2027.iitm.ac.in; Check Dates, Fee, Steps To Apply

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced the commencement of online registrations for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2027, also known as GATE 2027. The registration process will kick off today, September 2, 2026, at 7 PM on the official website gate2027.iitm.ac.in.

Candidates are required to ensure all necessary documents are uploaded to their DigiLocker folder prior to initiating the GATE application process. The nationwide computer-based test (CBT) is scheduled to take place from February 6 to 21, 2027, in two shifts: forenoon and afternoon, across multiple dates.

This examination serves as a basis for admission to postgraduate programs at various universities and recruitment opportunities at public sector undertakings (PSUs). The official application link, gate2027.iitm.ac.in, will be active for registrations today.

Key dates to note include the registration deadline without late fee on September 27, 2026, and the extended deadline with a late fee on October 5, 2026. Candidates are advised to complete their registration before September 27 to avoid an additional late fee.

The application fee is structured differently based on candidate categories. For female, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons With Disability (PwD) candidates, the fee is ₹1,000 for regular registration and ₹1,500 for extended registration. All other candidates will pay ₹2,000 for regular registration and ₹2,500 for extended registration.

Payment can be made online through Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, or other available online payment methods. However, it is important to note that the application fee is non-refundable, and the application will only be processed after successful payment completion.
