First day of school jitters are now behind most of France's 11.6 million pupils, but this "rentrée", or back-to-school period, is being marked by a number of challenges and changes: phone bans, concerns over sexual abuse, teachers' salaries, and 161,000 fewer students due to France's falling birthrate.
