Foldable 'iPhone Ultra' Still Likely to Be Missing These Five Features

Apple's anticipated foldable iPhone, the iPhone Ultra, is poised to launch without at least five features that will be present on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models, despite a starting price of at least $2,000. The Ultra is expected to be similar in design to the iPhone Air, featuring a titanium frame and glass back, but will lack several key capabilities.

Firstly, the Ultra will not include Ultra Wide and Telephoto rear cameras, as it will only have 48-megapixel Wide and Ultra Wide lenses. This is believed to be a concession due to the Ultra's thin design. Secondly, the device will lack a SIM card slot, similar to the iPhone Air, and will only support eSIM connectivity. Thirdly, Apple is expected to revert to a Touch ID side button for authentication, as the Ultra's thin profile would make accommodating the TrueDepth camera array impractical.

Furthermore, the Ultra is anticipated to miss the Action button, a feature that was introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro but subsequently removed from subsequent models. Additionally, the device may not support mmWave 5G connectivity, as the C2 modem used in the Ultra could lack this capability. However, the Ultra is expected to feature mmWave support on the iPhone 18 Pro models sold in the United States, due to the use of Qualcomm hardware.

Lastly, while rumors suggested that the Ultra would include MagSafe, Apple has confirmed that the feature will indeed be present in the device.
