FIFA accepts NFF mass resignations, backs NSC-led reform

FIFA has accepted the resignations of the top officials at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and pledged to continue working with the Nigerian government, the NFF administration and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on a roadmap for comprehensive reforms of Nigerian football, according to a statement released by the acting deputy general secretary of the NFF, Dr Ademola Olajire.

A delegation led by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and other key officials at FIFA's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. FIFA has expressed support for the proposed reforms, stating that they aim to ensure the delivery of expected improvements both in the short, medium and long term, and to establish a stable environment for the success of Nigerian football both on and off the pitch.

The NFF is currently going through a period of transition following the mass resignation of its board and president Bola Tinubu's call for action to address perceived failures. An interim board has been appointed to lead the NFF in the interim.
