Fall and fly: 8 films to add to your September watchlist

Here is a watchlist of eight films set to release in September:

1. Fall 2: Deadpoint on September 3. The sequel to the 2022 survival thriller, Deadpoint follows Jax Hunter, who joins her sister's friend on a dangerous hike on Mount Kwan. A rockslide strands them on a 900m plank walk, forcing them to question if they'll survive.

2. How to Rob a Bank on September 3. Directed by David Leitch, this action-comedy follows a crew of thieves who livestream their heists online. Fed up with financial inequality, they use algorithms and psychological tricks to pull off high-tech bank robberies, attracting FBI and software engineer attention.

3. I'm Game on September 3. This Malayalam and Tamil action thriller stars Dulquer Salmaan as a fearless gambler who travels from casinos to sports betting. His world of high stakes turns upside down with unexpected events, leading to high-flying action and car chases directed by Nahas Hidhayath.

4. Practical Magic 2 on September 10. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reunite as witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens in this sequel to the 1998 cult favorite. Directed by Susanne Bier, the film follows the sisters facing a supernatural crisis when a hidden family secret threatens to revive their centuries-old curse.

5. Terbang on September 17. This Malaysian biopic about rally driver Karamjit Singh, known as the "Flying Sikh", follows Ajeet played by Irfan Zaini. As he battles financial pressures and international rallying dangers, Ajeet aims for global competition, with director Chiu Keng Guan set release it just after Malaysia Day.

6. Resident Evil on September 17. This live-action adaptation of the horror video game follows medical courier Bryan in Raccoon City during a deadly T-virus outbreak. Unlike previous adaptations, this new version offers a fresh start to the chaos as people transform into flesh-eating zombies and terrifying creatures emerge.

7. Forgotten Island on September 24. DreamWorks Animation brings Southeast Asian folklore to the big screen in this animated adventure. Childhood friends Jo and Raissa find themselves magically transported to Nakali, an island inhabited by mythical creatures from Philippine lore. They must survive mythical creatures and find a way home before they forget each other completely.

8. Heart of the Beast on September 24. Directed by David Ayer and based on a Black List screenplay, this survival thriller stars Brad Pitt as a special forces officer stranded in the Alaskan wilderness with his German Shepherd combat dog, Odin. Both carry psychological and physical scars from war, relying on each other to battle the elements and wildlife on their journey back to civilization.
