Fadhlina scraps programs with no impact to reduce burden on teachers

Education Minister, Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek, announced the discontinuation of several competitions and programs that are deemed ineffective in enhancing student learning. She shared on Facebook that these initiatives, such as the most beautiful toilet, most beautiful yard, and cleanest classroom competitions, not only involve decorative activities but also require teachers to attend meetings, make preparations, prepare documentation, and create reports.

Fadhlina highlighted the significant time and energy required for these programs, stating that they often divert teachers from their primary responsibility of teaching and educating students. She emphasized that the most crucial aspect is ensuring that teachers can focus on the teaching and education process of students.

The education minister explained that eliminating unnecessary programs is the first step in reducing the burden on teachers, and she hinted at sharing the remaining six steps in a series titled "What is Fadhlina doing?" The announcement came on September 2, 2026.
