Everton fan group questions club's decisions during transfer window

On September 2, the Everton Fans Forum voiced concern over the club's transfer decisions, criticizing the team's performance during the recent transfer window. The forum, which collaborates with Everton's board on supporter matters, expressed disappointment that fans had been promised a more organized recruitment process but witnessed the club scrambling in the final days of the window to address significant needs.

The primary issue centered around the club's inability to finalize a deal for U.S. striker Folarin Balogun on deadline day, despite the player denying the move. This left manager David Moyes with a limited pool of options after Beto's transfer to Fiorentina.

The Fans Forum is adamant that supporters deserve a comprehensive explanation regarding the transfer window's shortcomings, the reasons behind failed attempts to secure key targets, and the measures the club will implement to prevent such failures in the future. In a statement on X, the forum emphasized that fans deserved clear answers to these questions.

Currently, Thierno Barry leads Everton's attacking lineup, with Brennan Johnson, Tyrique George, and academy prospect Braiden Graham contributing to the team's offensive efforts. However, the club's failure to retain certain players and secure replacements has left the squad vulnerable in crucial areas. The Fans Forum pointed out that allowing players to leave without having suitable replacements in place has left the squad dangerously short-handed.

Monaco's CEO, Thiago Scuro, shed light on Balogun's situation, explaining that the club raised concerns over the striker's medical late on deadline day. Despite Everton agreeing to the transfer and completing the paperwork before the deadline, Balogun ultimately decided against proceeding due to discomfort with the doubts raised by Everton's medical department regarding his health.

Scuro clarified that Everton was prepared to finalize the deal and sign the contract at approximately 10 p.m., but Balogun opted not to move, citing his concerns about the club's treatment and his health.
