The 2026 national holiday calendar in Spain combines mandatory national holidays, optional national holidays, autonomous and local holidays, amounting to a total of 14 non-working days per year. Out of these 14 days, 9 are celebrated nationwide, while three are decided by each autonomous community, and two are local holidays set by municipal or local councils based on their traditions, usually tied to patron saint festivals.

National holidays are divided into two groups: those that cannot be replaced by autonomous communities and those that can be. The former total eight days, which are mandatory across Spain and include Epiphany on January 6, known as the Day of the Three Kings, which is generally considered non-substitutable, though it is always observed due to tradition.

The latter group consists of days like New Year's Day on January 1, All Saints' Day on November 1, the Immaculate Conception on December 8, and Christmas Day on December 25, the final holiday of 2026 preceding the first holiday of 2027 on January 1.

Autonomous communities have the option to replace the Monday following national holidays that fall on a Sunday with other locally celebrated traditions, or choose between celebrating San Jose's Day on March 19 or St. James the Apostle's Day on July 25 each year. Some autonomous communities can also introduce their own national holidays, thereby creating additional bridge days.

Furthermore, there are other common holidays that autonomous communities and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla can alter, referred to as the National Fiesta for which the substitution option has not been exercised, which is listed in the Official State Bulletin once approved by the autonomous governments throughout the year.

Local holidays, which are fixed by each municipality and are non-negotiable for work, labor, and non-recoverable, are also included in the total of 14 holiday days. These local holidays are published in municipal or provincial bulletins.

From September to December, notable bridge weekends include the long weekends of Extremadura and Asturias on Tuesday, August 8, as well as Catalonia's Diada festival on Friday, August 11. Additionally, the Immaculate Conception on December 8 is a nationwide holiday, although it typically falls in the middle of the week and may be moved to Monday in some autonomous communities.

The last few bridge days include the November 1 All Saints' Day and December 25 Christmas Day, with some communities transferring Constitution Day on December 6 to Monday, November 2, to maximize their holiday time.
