EPL: Brighton sign Nigerian winger Femi Azeez on four-year deal

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Nigerian winger Femi Azeez on a four-year deal from Millwall. The Premier League club finalized the transfer after both parties submitted a deal sheet before the initial transfer deadline of 11pm on Tuesday night. The deadline was extended to 1am on Wednesday morning due to the agreement.

Azeez, who is 25 years old, had an impressive 2025/26 season with Millwall. During that time, he played a crucial role in Millwall's Championship playoff push, making 77 appearances and scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists. His outstanding performances earned him a spot in both the PFA and EFL Championship Teams of the Season.

Brighton's sporting director, Mike Cave, expressed his delight at welcoming Azeez to the club, stating that he was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship. The signing comes after Azeez's unconventional journey through the English football pyramid. After playing in Watford's youth setup, he moved to non-league clubs Northwood, Wealdstone, Hanwell Town, and eventually joined Reading in 2019 before signing with Millwall in 2024.

This signing marks the latest step in Azeez's rapid rise from non-league football to the Premier League. He has also made a strong start to his international career with Nigeria, scoring both goals in the Super Eagles' 2-0 win over Zimbabwe on his senior debut in June and providing an assist in Nigeria's 3-0 victory over Jamaica four days later. Azeez is now set to continue his development at Brighton as he begins his first season in the Premier League.
