‘Don’t spend a kobo on a gift for me,’ Shettima shares lessons at 60

Vice President Kashim Shettima turned 60 on Wednesday, and urged Nigerians not to spend money on gifts or celebrations for his birthday. Instead, he asked them to channel their resources towards charities, causes or people in need across the country. Shettima expressed his gratitude for the affection, prayers and goodwill he had received throughout his life, but stated that turning 60 had reinforced his belief that a man should focus on giving rather than receiving.

He appealed to those wishing to celebrate him to redirect their intentions to support those who needed it most. Shettima emphasized that acts of kindness, regardless of their size, could make a difference to those in need. He also encouraged Nigerians to pray for peace, prosperity and good governance in the country, highlighting the nation's industrious people, extraordinary talent, and youthful population as national assets.
