Disney+ and Hulu Unveil First Original ABC News Video Podcast

ABC News has announced the debut of its first original news video podcast titled "The Scream Murder: A True Teen Horror Story Podcast." The six-episode series will premiere exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu on September 4th. "The Scream Murder" is a true-crime series based on a Hulu documentary of the same name, which revisits the 2006 murder of Idaho teenager Cassie Jo Stoddart.

The murder was committed by two classmates who were inspired by horror films. Following its exclusive premiere on Disney+ and Hulu, the podcast will be available on other podcast platforms and through the "20/20 True Crime+" subscription on Apple Podcasts.

Hosted by Pat Rogers and Conor McCarthy, the series explores the investigation that followed Stoddart's killing and features interviews with friends, family members, investigators, attorneys, psychologists, and a local reporter. It also includes exclusive material not present in the original documentary. ABC News has previously released video podcasts on Disney+ and Hulu, such as "The View: Behind the Table" and "20/20: The After Show."

However, "The Scream Murder" is the first original ABC News video podcast to premiere exclusively on these streaming services before a wider release on podcast platforms.

As the line between podcasts and streaming shows continues to blur, with video becoming a more prominent aspect of the format, "The Scream Murder" presents a serialized video podcast that initially coexists alongside streaming programming. Produced by Lone Wolf Media for ABC News Studios, the series is executive produced by David Sloan, Beth Hoppe, and Eamon McNiff.
