Destry Damayanti sworn in as Bank Indonesia Governor

On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Destry Damayanti was sworn in as the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), alongside Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor. The three were subjected to a fitness and suitability test at the House of Representatives (DPR) before serving from 2026 to 2031. Chief Justice Sunarto conducted the oath-taking ceremony in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 92/P of 2026, which governs the dismissal and appointment of the Bank Indonesia Board of Governors.

Destry Damayanti pledged her commitment to carrying out her duties with utmost dedication and responsibility at the Supreme Court. President Prabowo Subianto had previously proposed her as the sole candidate for the Governor position. She assumed the role as Acting Governor after Perry Warjiyo's resignation.

During her installation, Destry Damayanti highlighted stability as a top priority for the Indonesian central bank, despite the ongoing global uncertainty. She affirmed that the previous leadership's well-aligned policies would continue, while acknowledging that current conditions would significantly influence the policies implemented. Her stance remained consistent, emphasizing that stability is paramount, especially in the current climate of high global uncertainty.
