DCP to return to Nakuru for rallies days after attack

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) is scheduled to return to Nakuru County for a series of rallies on Sunday, September 6, 2026, following an attack on their team. DCP Secretary for Planning and Economic Affairs Peter Mbae revealed that party leader John Methu and the national team would hold a church service at Solai Centre before conducting rallies at Solai Centre, Mailikumi, and Mailisita.

Additionally, the party will visit Subukia, Kabazi, Lanet Umoja, and Dundori centres in the following days. Methu's previous visit to Nakuru was interrupted by the attack, but the DCP team will utilize Sunday's activities to continue their mobilization efforts in the county. Meanwhile, Methu is also set to lead the party team in Nairobi's Central Business District on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, where he will engage with traders and the business community.

This engagement comes after recent demonstrations by traders in the CBD, who protested tax increases on imported goods and were met with arrests and tear gas from police officers. The planned DCP engagement follows Gachagua's departure for a month-long trip to the United States, leaving Methu and his team in charge of continuing the party's activities in his absence.

Methu has been conducting various party activities since Gachagua's departure, including meet-the-people tours in Laikipia and other parts of the country, aiming to strengthen grassroots support for the DCP.
