Dax aktuell: Dax baut Minus aus – Gaspreis steigt weiter

In September, it appears that the Dax index is following its reputation for being a typically poor performing month for stock exchanges. The index fluctuated around 25,800 points mid-week and briefly dipped by 0.8 percent. Since the beginning of the week, the leading index has dropped more than one percent daily, marking the first time in over eight weeks it has lost that much across consecutive days, according to LSEG data.

Additionally, trading volume on Tuesday was low, with fewer than 50 million shares changing hands, compared to over 80 million transactions on Monday. In total, the Dax shed more than 600 points since the previous Friday. The long-term trend remains intact as the index moves away from the 26,000-point mark. Thomas Altmann, a portfolio manager at QC Markets, notes that the next interesting and potentially trend-setting development will be how investors react to the Dax falling below the psychologically important 2,000-point mark.

Although the Dax is still above the 200-day line, which represents the average closing price of the past 200 days and sits at 24,630 points, the 50-day line, currently at 25,646 points, is coming into closer view, as it is more relevant for short to medium-term trends.
