Classes 10th to 12th revised NCERT textbooks are being prepared in mission mode: Minister

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi announced on Tuesday that the new National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks for classes 10 to 12 are being developed with urgency. This comes after the release of revised textbooks for classes 1 to 9, aligning with the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

Joshi emphasized the pivotal role NCERT plays in shaping a Viksit Bharat by nurturing skilled individuals with global awareness through quality education. In the past two years, artificial intelligence (AI) has permeated daily life, and Joshi stressed the need for textbooks and curricula to adapt to this evolving landscape.

The aim is to equip young learners with the knowledge to confidently and responsibly engage with AI. Joshi highlighted that the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020 addresses these challenges. However, additional efforts are required to educate parents about the digital world and guide children appropriately.

India's large youth population provides a significant human resource advantage not only for the nation but also for the global community, Joshi pointed out. As countries grapple with aging populations, India stands out with a youthful demographic. The Viksit Bharat mission extends its significance beyond national borders, aiming to elevate India's human resource ranking in the coming years.
