Claim on Malaysia recruiting 200,000 Bangladeshi workers not Bangladesh’s official position, says Fahmi

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil clarified that a junior Bangladeshi government minister's claim that Malaysia intended to recruit 200,000 Bangladeshi workers was not an official position of the Bangladeshi government. He explained that the statement was made by a junior minister and did not represent the official stance of the Bangladeshi government.

Fahmi reached out to the Human Resources Minister for confirmation and received the same clarification. Meanwhile, the Cabinet was informed that 1,476 Myanmar nationals held in immigration detention facilities would be repatriated to Myanmar by the end of September. All of them had signed documents agreeing to return voluntarily, and the Home Ministry had screened the 5,000 names and submitted 1,476 to the Myanmar Embassy for repatriation. Fahmi mentioned that Myanmar had assured the safety of those being repatriated.
