China expands Egypt investments in first Xi visit in a decade

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and counterpart Xi Jinping agreed Wednesday to expand China's investment in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as Beijing seeks to deepen ties with Cairo against the backdrop of the US-Iran war. Xi, on his first visit to Egypt in a decade, was welcomed for talks at the opulent Ittihadiya presidential palace in the Egyptian capital by Sisi and a 21-gun salute.
