Australia's climate vandalism called out in Palau

At the Pacific Islands Forum summit, Palau's climate change minister Maina Talia delivered a somber account of the effects of global warming on his homeland. The Tuvalu minister expressed his distress over the UN Environment Programme's report, which revealed that the worst-case scenario of a 1.8 degree Celsius rise in temperature could occur within the next decade.

Talia emphasized that the threat is no longer a distant concern but a reality that the Pacific nations must confront. He called for urgent climate action to stay within the 1.5 degrees Celsius limit, beyond which the consequences would become irreversible. Talia also highlighted the need for Australia to transition away from fossil fuels and pledged his country's support for Palau's renewable energy initiatives.
