Atiku’s aide blames Tinubu government for Uber’s exit

Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has taken aim at President Bola Tinubu after Uber announced it is leaving Nigeria after a 12-year presence in the country. In a social media post, Ibe rejected the notion that Uber's withdrawal could be solely due to shifts in the company's global strategy or investment plans. Instead, he pointed to a host of economic challenges facing Nigerian businesses under the Tinubu administration.

Ibe highlighted issues such as soaring inflation, a volatile currency, escalating operating costs, diminishing consumer purchasing power, and policy uncertainty. He questioned why Nigeria has become a "business graveyard" where companies are more inclined to exit than to invest and grow. He labeled the government's economic policies as "bole ka ja," suggesting they lack the investment-friendly atmosphere Nigerians were promised.

Ibe emphasized the need for policies that would encourage companies to stay in Nigeria and generate jobs. He viewed Uber's departure as a stark warning that the government's economic measures have yet to create a welcoming environment for businesses. "Indeed, Tinubunomics is powered by 'bole ka ja' policies," he remarked, further criticizing the government's economic direction.
