Ankit Balyan murder: Jailed Gogi gang boss under UP Police scanner

The murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan in Shamli has prompted the Uttar Pradesh Police to investigate a possible connection with the Gogi gang. The probe centers around Rohit Rana, also known as Rohit Moi, a jailed gangster who controls operations of the Gogi gang in the capital city. According to sources, a purported social media post claiming responsibility for the killing was made in the name of Rahul, an alias referring to gangster Bholu Shahpuriya, who hails from Sonipat in Haryana.

The UP Police have not yet confirmed Balyan's association with any gangster group. Two alleged shooters, Sumit and Mohit from Sonipat, were killed in an encounter with UP Police, while four shooters are believed to have been involved in Balyan's murder, acting on Shahpuriya's instructions. Gangster Rahul, operating from abroad, is suspected to be working with his brother in Canada.

The UP Police are attempting to trace the remaining two alleged shooters and Shahpuriya. Law enforcement may question Moi, currently in Tihar Jail, and Rakesh, a member of the Gogi gang and close associate of Rohit Moi, who is held in Haryana's Karnal Jail. Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan was reportedly shot dead outside a gym in Shamli last Wednesday.
