All charges formally withdrawn against Antonio Iozzo, Werner Roets and AJ van Rensburg after DPP review finds allegations false and baseless

Charges against Alpha Founder and CEO Antonio Iozzo, CFO Daniel Werner Roets, and Abraham Johannes van Rensburg were officially dropped today by the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court after a thorough examination by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The charges stemmed from complaints filed by Nicola Iozzo and Gregory Hutchinson over a prolonged disagreement concerning private family trusts.

The DPP examined the complaints alongside the substantial documents and evidence presented by Iozzo, concluding that the allegations were unfounded and devoid of any truth. There was no proof of any wrongdoing on the part of the accused. Iozzo noted that the evidence disproving the allegations was provided to the South African Police Service (SAPS) from the outset of their notification, yet SAPS neglected to properly evaluate or act upon it.

He expressed serious concerns about the handling of the investigation by SAPS and why charges of such gravity were permitted to proceed despite the already provided evidence. SAPS had also published false and baseless accusations against the three men, which Iozzo promptly contested in the High Court and secured an urgent interim order to have the publication removed.

When the case returned to court, State counsel confirmed that the source of the damaging material could not be traced within the police files or the complainants' sworn testimonies. Iozzo vowed to pursue a significant damages claim against the State for the severe reputational and financial harm caused by the false and baseless statements.

The separate perjury allegations against Nicola Iozzo and Gregory Hutchinson, both from Mont Blanc Financial Services, are nearing their conclusion. Iozzo asserted that there is compelling documentary evidence contradicting their sworn statements, and he anticipates their arrest and prosecution for perjury, should they be convicted, which could result in severe consequences including criminal records, fines, or imprisonment.

Alpha continued its operations as usual throughout the ordeal, with no disruption to its business or service delivery.
